Employment at Mystic Lake YMCA Camp
Your place within the listed salary range is based upon previous camp experience and current certification.
The minimum age for most positions is 18. Most positions run June-August.
Some positions begin in early May.
All positions include room and board. Staff training is the week of June 10th.
All staff and volunteers are required to attend the training.
Counseling Positions
Senior Counselor ($160-$180/week)
Mystic Experience counselors are responsible for day and night supervision of a cabin group of 10-20 boys/girls throughout the summer along with 2-3 co-counselors
Create programs and teach in specific program areas during a portion of each camp day
Must be at least 18-years-old
Wrangler/Ranch Counselor ($170-$190/week)
Have the same responsibilities as Senior Counselors
Assist with riding lessons, standard horse care and leading trail rides
Must have previous horseback riding experience and be 18-years-old
CIT Directors ($180-$190/week)
Responsible for design and implementation of Counselor-in-Training and Leader-in-Training Programs.
Program for older teens with an emphasis on becoming a future counselor.
Previous camp experience required
Must be at least 19-years-old with a clean driving record
Leadership Team Positions
Camp Health Officer ($310/week)
Must have current certifications meeting minimum requirements set forth by the State of Michigan
Camp Licensing Department. These include Certified Health Officer, EMT, LPN or RN
Responsible for daily operation of camp health and safety procedures and handling of emergencies
Must be at least 21-years-old
Store Manager ($160/week)
Responsible for overall operation of the camp store including: ordering, stocking, money intake and logistical support to program staff
Previous sales or retail experience preferred
Must be organized and able to use various computer programs
Senior and Specialty Camps Village Director ($250/week)
Responsible for the overall supervision of Senior Village (12-14 years old) and all Specialty Camp programs under the direction of the Program Director.
Duties include staff training and supervision, program design and implementation and coordination of daily schedules.
2 years previous camp experience with at least 1 year of administrative work necessary
Must be at least 21-years-old
